"What's Going On? California and the Vietnam Era" Exhibition at the Great Hall, August 28, 2004-February 28, 2005.

Life preserver ring, made of orange plastic with nylon straps and cords. Printed on it is: "U.S.N.S. Gen. Walker" and also "M.S.T.S. San Francisco." The ring has a 16" opening in the center. Found in the US Navy Ship General Nelson M. Walker. The last transports done by the ship were to bring troops to and from Vietnam into Oakland, CA, before it was taken out of service in 1967. This is a collection of artifacts found on the ship after it was taken out of service.
