Water pipe made of bamboo. In Vietnamese it is called " Dieu Cay Thuoc Lao." It consists of a bambu section, painted black, with a hole for the bowl, which is a loose piece of bamboo. It rests at an angle on two feet, made of a thinner section of bambu, cut and bent around the body. It has a metal chain attached, with a pin for packing the pipe. The pipe was made by the donor while he was in re-education camp in South Vietnam, in 1978. There were no papers for cigarettes, so he made the pipe. He smoked dried leaves, not tobacco.
