Charles Lindbergh standing in front of his plane the Spirit of St. Louis on a grass field. From caption at the bottom of the photo: "PBS -- PBS salutes the 50th Anniversary of Charles Lindbergh's historic transatlantic flight on "Kitty Hawk To Paris," a magnificient documentary on early aviation pioneers to be broadcast May 26 at 10:06 pm on Channel 9 KQED. (Documentary Sase #127, 5/20/77, 10:00 p.m. ET)" Charles Lindbergh is looking at the camera with a very slight smile. He is wearing a flight suit/overalls (with belt) standing just in front of his single-engine airplane the Spirit of St. Louis on a grassy field. His flight suit is of a dark color with long sleeves, zipper down the front, belt and straps at the bottom of the pants that seem to tie each pant leg to his ankles. Under the flight suit he is wearing a jacket with fur collar. His right arm is straight down his right side and his left arm is bent at the elbow with his hand behind him. He has longish dark curly hair. Behind Mr. Lindbergh is a single-engine airplane with a light colored body with vertical dark spots that create a basketweave pattern. The nose of the plane is just to his right and parts of the propellors are visible in the upper left corner and behind Mr. Lindbergh. Just behind the the nose of the airplane are a circle of dark tubes/pipes protruding, Behind this area the plane's name is painted on it. Above the name is the wing that goes across the photo -- the whole wing is not visible. On the left side of the photo one can see the light colored wheel and structure holding the wheel to the plane and an extension to the outer wing. On the right one can see pipes/poles that presumably hold the right wheel and wing to the plane. (The right wheel is not visible.) Beside the plane and behind these poles is the right half of a man's face and body. He is wearing a hat. Ther may also be someone behind him. On the left side of the photo behind the poles is at least one man in a cap. Ther may be other men but they are not readily distinguishable.
