Printed on back of photo: "Gum Lum, the dramatic 165' Golden Dragon is the dramatic finale to the Chinese New Year Parade live on KTVU/Channel 2, Saturday, February 15 from 6-8PM repeated Sunday, February 16 from 9-11AM." Close up of head of large dragon. The head is of a dark color with contrasting light colored ornamentation. The top of the head seems to have a row of light colored points extending out. The visible large eye is mainly white with a dark pupil and dark arcs emanating from it. The eyelash is white fringe affixed with gold nails. The nose is large with a strand that creates a loop with one end on the nose and the other at one corner of the eye. A long cylinder extends from the eye to behind the head. It is made up of circles around the cylinder of dark flat pieces held in lace by nails and white fringe. The end away from the face is outlined in white fringe and curls back on itself. The cheek is dark with a row of white flowers (dark centers) and other ornamentation. The jowls radiate with trinagular pieces of a light color with dark stripes and dark nailheads on them. Upper and lower fangs are visible in the mouth. The head is help up on a white pole by a serious looking young man with dark hair and dark tee shirt. The head is much larger than the young man. The body extends back and appears to be of a shiny patterned fabric with a zig zag cut. The zig zags are outlined with white fringe. In the lower left corner of the photo are three women -- two wearing eyeglasses -- watching the parade. Behind the dragon is a building of more than one story. In the upper right it appears to be made of brick. In a window in the upper right of the photo are two people looking down on the dragon.

From white file folder Chinese Americans. Most likely San Francisco parade as KTVUChannel 2, an Oakland television station, has broadcast that one for many years.
