A: Black and white, glossy photograph of three young, African American adults seated at a table. On the proper left side is a woman dressed in a striped jacket, a white blouse and a white beret. Written in ink across her image is "Bertha Lomack." The man seated in the center is wearing a striped coat, with a pin is his lapel, a sport shirt, and has his arm around the shoulder of the woman at his left (the proper left of the photograph); he's also wearing a wristwatch and a ring. She is wearing a dressy suit or dress, with a toque decorated with a cluster of flowers on the side and a veil that has been removed from her face and draped to the back of the hat. The necklace she's wearing could be a locket or a decorative stone. She holds a cigarette in her left hand. Rumpled behind her, on the seat of the booth at which the three are seated, is her fur coat (mink or seal?). Written in ink on her image is "Johnnie Parker." B: Folder of baby blue card stock, four diagonal slits in back to hold photograph "A." Printed in black on the front: "'Slim' Jenkins' Blue Room, Specializing in New York steaks, Baked Ham, Fried Chicken and Hot Biscuits, Cocktails, Continuous Entertainment. 1748 Seventh St., Oakland 7, California, Glencourt 0122." Printed on the back: "For Extra Photographs Write Index Nite Club Photo Company, c/o 'Slim' Jenkins Blue Room, 1748 Seventh Street, Oakland 7, Calif. Mail $1.25, tax included, for each photograph, This Number.........Date........" Written in ink on the inside of the folder is "Aug. 30, 1946" Written in ink on the back: "Had a good time Clowning. Lets Do it again. B. E. Lomack." "Carter: Its been 3 years since we've met but tonight made up for 2 years of it. Thanks for a Wonderful Time. Johnnie Ruth"

The lapel pin on the young man in the center of the photograph might be a veterans service pin; since this photograph was made in 1946, it is likely that a veteran would still be wearing his pin. "Slim" Jenkins' Blue Room was a well known Bat Area night spot. All five photographs in this group came from the collection of Sallie Eakins.
