Not quite a hand-made inscription, a quote from Arnold Schwarzenegger - "I want to be the people's Governor. I will work honestly, without fear or favor, to do what is right for the people of California.
The 2003 California Gubernatorial Recall Election was a special election held on October 3. The ballot consisted of two questions; should Gray Davis be recalled and who should succeed him. Voters could answer one question or the other, or both. Californians recalled Davis and the majority voted for Schwarzenegger. On November 7, 2003, Schwarzenegger was sworn in as governor. This was California's first-ever gubernatorial recall election.
