A silk plaid dress (pink, white, yellow aqua and black) with a cream colored silk yoke and inner sleeves; sleeves and yoke are trimmed with cream colored fancy color. The yoke is also trimmed with a buckle, with a piece of the dress fabric run through it as a swag (backed with plain pink silk). The silk hem, as well as the cotton lining (in white and tan) have been pieced. Gored skirt is full. Bodice has bloused in the front. Closes at the back with hooks and eyes.

This dress was made for Mattie Webber by her mother, Maggie Webber. (This dress looks homemade on the inside, basting stitches are still in place in many locations.) Mattie's father, John Brooks Webber, was Sheriff of Butte County. Mattie graduate from Oroville Union High School in 1908, went on to Chico State Normal School from which she gradduate in 1912. She taught briefly, but on January 1, 1913, she married Irving Myron Brazier (of Marin County) whom she had met while a student at Chico State. Mattie, who as an adult was active in the American Red Cross and the Order of the Eastern Star, was born April 15, 1890 and died April 10, 1965.
