1908
Photo.by Scott

Black and white, gelatine silver, photograph mounted on dark gray board. Subject of the image is the Oakland Oaks Baseball Team: 15 players in uniform, with a man in the center, wearing a suit, bow tie and boater, with a little boy in a suit, stockings, high top shoes and a cap seated cross legged in front. These 1908 uniforms appear different from those in 1906, no dark collars. (One team member wears a striped under shirt, very visible at the arms.) There are people seated in the bleachers, but the bleachers are only about one quarter full. In the distance, beyong the fence of the ball park, you can see at least three peaked roofs with chimneys. There are several advertising signs on the fence of the ball park. One for Metz Beer is the most obvious. "1908" is written in pencil on the surface of the photograph.

Donor's grandfather was the captain of the team. He's pictured third from the right.
