Central Trade School - Dressmaking and Home Sewing

Photographic print (black and white, glossy) of a young woman (wearing a dotted dress and a wrist pin cushion on her left arm) pinning completed applique emblems and varsity letters on a cloth for display. The emblems, varsity letters, dates, etc. appear to be felt appliques.

Evidently creating emblems from felt (to be appliqued to sweaters, jackets or uniforms) was one of the lessons learned in the trade school. Notice the nailpolish on the woman's hands; the moons of her nails are left unpainted which was in fashion at the time.
