Gift of Mary Ann Benson

A knee length vest made and worn by Mary Ann Benson. The body and skirt of the hand-crocheted vest is made of purple yarn; the edge at the arm holes is done in green; the large, decorative element on the back is done in chartreuse color, green, pink, rose color and orchid color. The trim down eitherside of the front and around the hem is done in pink, rose color, green, chartreuse color and orchid color. Mary Ann made the vest from a pattern she found in "Woman's Day" magazine. She wore it while teaching vocal music in three elementary schools in Piedmont.
