"MEMORY AND IMAGINATION: The Legacy of Maidu Indian Artist Frank Day" - March 15 to Oct. 19, 1997, Oakland Museum of California.

An oil painting on canvas depicts a three-headed creature. The creature has three long spiny torsos with grayish black skin ending in three heads covered in ridges. The creature's three sections each appear with small green and yellow eyes, a long nose, a small mouth with sharp white teeth, yellow nostrils, and two front legs ending in flat feet with long yellow talons. The creature emerges out of a body of water surrounded by mountain peaks in the background against a yellow sky. A male figure with dark hair wearing a loin cloth is painted running off canvas at lower left. A white patch of ground covers the lower foreground of the composition.
