Oil painting on canvas contains a composition of a freight train. A black steam locomotive with smokestack, bell, and a pilot (or cattle catcher) on the front end appears on train tracks that run from right to left across the canvas just below center. The locomotive pulls an open freight car stacked with wood. Green grass is painted below the train tracks across the lower half of the canvas and a clear off-white sky appears above the horizon line at center.
