"MEMORY AND IMAGINATION: The Legacy of Maidu Indian Artist Frank Day" - March 15 to Oct. 19, 1997, Oakland Museum of California.

Oil painting on canvas of three Maidu figures. The composition has a low horizon line with a flat blue background. Three figures stand on gray earth at the center of the canvas. The figure at the far right stands facing the viewer holding yellow vegetation across his torso. What appears as a gray boat or container with white nets or fabric is visible below this figure. The middle figure is facing left and walking with arms stretched outward and holding yellow vegetation in his left hand. This figure has spiky black hair extending down his back. The figure to the far left has parahuman characteristics and drinks from a stream in a posture similar to a four-legged animal. This figure also has spiky black hair extending down his back in a ridge.
