"MEMORY AND IMAGINATION: The Legacy of Maidu Indian Artist Frank Day" - March 15 to Oct. 19, 1997, Oakland Museum of California.

Oil painting on canvas board contains a landscape composition with figures and animals. In the lower left, two large and two small figures rest on rocky ground surrounded by an off-white painted area covering most of the lower half of the canvas. A figure sits at left, and at right, a female figure lifts the strap of a basket over her shoulder. Between these figures, two small standing figures look and point to the upper right. A stag appears at upper right next to a deer behind a short twisted tree. Green pine trees appear at the horizon line at upper left against a blue sky.
