From back of photograph: "New Year, Chinese dragon, lion dance". A close-up image of the head of a lion costume, probably during a nighttime Chinese New Year's parade. At the far proper right of the image a hand is grasping an ornately decorated staff or baton, possibly guiding the lion. A Chinese American man is visible under the lion's head holding it up. The lion costume itself is beautifully decorated and features a characteristic lion fringe and colorful sequined decorations. The only detail that gives any indication to the photograph's date is the shadowy outline of a car in the background, which appears to be of 1950s-70s vintage, but does not prove anything conclusive.
