From back of photograph: "Hangar 5 and United Air Lines." Two medium-sized propellor planes are parked in front of a large hangar at Oakland Airport. Between the hangar and the airplanes is a four-story control tower with "OAKLAND" written on it. In the proper left background there is another hangar which probably belongs to United Air Lines, judging from the visible "United Air" portion of its label. The surface where the planes are parked is paved. The decals on the sides of the airplanes read "United Air Lines."
