From "Hamilton, William J. Alameda County Supervisor Died 11-6-38" folder. From caption on back of photograph: "High tribute was paid the late William J. Hamilton, chairman of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, yesterday, when a memorial in the form of a bronze bust was unveiled at the $2,000,000 courthouse which he was instrumental in having built. Here the crowd listens to Joseph R. Knowland, publisher of The Tribune, and one of the speakers." Joseph R. Knowland speaks to a large crowd before the steps of the Alameda County Courthouse. He stands next to an American flag and a microphone. More people sit behind him and there is a small band off to his proper left. The people in the crowd are dressed warmly and almost everyone, men and women, wear hats.
