New Oakland Museum, 1964

This small shovel was a souvenir of the ground breaking for the "New Oakland Museum, 1964" (printed in black on the tin shovel). The shovel is of tin, orange color on the face, yellow on the back. A slender, light colored wooden handle is fitted in place.

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Dafoe, who collected this little souvenir, were long time supporters of (The Oakland Museum) Oakland Museum of California. In 2006 (after they were both deceased) the contents of their home was give to the Oakland Museum of California's Women's Board for their White Elephant Sale. This artifact was one of the many wonderful items from the Dafoe home.
