Deep red velvet sombrero trimmed in metallic gold braid in vine-like swags on the top and bottom of the brim, and up the base of the crown. Clusters of three flowers (two small, one large), centered with rhinestones decorate the brim and crown. Horseshoes of metallic gold braid decorate two sides of the crown. The edge of the brim is laced with the metallic braid. The hat is lined in magenta and white, with plastic covering the top portion of the lining. The chin cord is red and beige cotton.

Trinidad Jose Sanchez was born in Mexico and came to California in the 1930s to work in the agricultural industry in California's Central Valley. He met Esther Quintero Sanchez; they married and settled in Sacramento. In Sacramento Mr. Sanchez became involved with a Charro group and would often perform at horse shows and in parades.
