Deep red velvet sombrero with metallic silver briad trim in an angular design on the top and the bottom of the brim, as well as the bottom edge of the crown. A small braid hat band in matching metallic silver goes around the base of the crown. The edge of the brim is decorated with lacing of the metallic braid. Lined in green. Chin cord is of red cotton.

Trinidad Jose Sanchez was born in Mexico. In the 1930s he came to California to work in the Agricultural Industry. In Modesto he met Esther Quintero Sanchez. They married and settled in Sacramento. Mr. Sanchez was involved with a Charro group which performed at horse shows and in parades. The Charro items in this collection were probably worn by him. The Charra items were worn by his daughters.
