Carved chair. The front legs are carved and wings project from the leg to the sides. The wings are very stylizied and resemble bat wings. The back legs have stylizied acanthus leaves on them. All four feet are round and curled. The carved arms feature irises on the outside and the inside is decorated with chrysanthemums on the top. The arms flow to the back with grooved sculpting resembling stylizied flow of water or stylizied wood. The back of the chair is carved with a monkey climbing above the flowers and there are irises on either side as he climbs to the top of the chair. The apron is carved with curved stylizied images that may be Chinese water or Chinese clouds. The base of the seat is flat and there is a border around the seat, carved, with stylizied Chinese clouds or water.
