This black and white glassy photograph has a small white border on all four sides. The image is of two men (both convalescing servicemen from Letterman General Hospital), seated in a rowboat,holding a large string of fish. The man on the left, wearing the cap is Walter Haneberg.

Margaret Russell served as a Red Cross Recreation Worker at Letterman General Hospital (on the Presidio) during and after World War II. As part of her work with convalescent service people she arrange for clubs to be formed, outings to take place, etc. She helped create the fishing program; this photograph is an example of one of the fishing outings. While working for the Red Cross, she met her husband-to-be, Walter Haneberg, seen in this photograph.
