Watercolor on paper of a large Redwood tree with its trunk split open at the bottom. The tree is centered in the composition with a path winding around the bottom of the trunk to the foreground at bottom right. A smaller tree is visible in the foreground at left and its green branches surround the redwood tree trunk at top. Dense forest is indicated in the background in loose painted strokes of blues and greens.
