This is a portrait of the daughter of Thomas Hill. The portrait is an ol on cavas which has been conserved at some poitn and mounted to aluminum board. From file: "Laura Bell Hill, daughter of the artist and his wife, Charlotte M. Hill, is pictured in a standing three quarters view, facing front, with her body turned slightly to the right. Her hair is dark and her eyes are blue. She is wearing a dark dress fitted to the waist, with white ruching trim at the neckline witha bustle style skirt. Her hands are clasped in front. She is wearing a pendant necklace, earrings, and a gold bracelet on each wrist."

From file: "Laura, born in 1869, was raised at the Seminary Avenue Estate in Oakland, California, which her father, artist Thomas Hill, provided for his family in the 1870's, which was the most financially successful years of his long career. She and her husband, Dee Herrick, resided in the San Francisco East Bay area. They had five children. Laura died in Alameda, California, at the age of 39."
