Protesters tumbling having been pushed by a line of police officers in riot gear. The scene is in a street in Berkeley, near the campus (which appears to be the intersection of Durant and College Avenues), the photo was taken looking up the opposing lines of protesters and police officers; the hood of a car is in the foreground (between the viewer and the subjects). Three male protesters (closest to the viewer) have lost their balance and are falling toward the right side of the frame; behind them, advancing toward the backs of the protesters, are the police officers, moving from the left side to the center of the frame. On verso is the clipping of the caption, which simply states, "Demonstrators flee a police line." On the clipping is the date stamp, "Thur Aug 1 1991," as well as a handwritten notation, "Berkeley, CA, police - Peoples' Park." No photographer is credited.
