From a piece of correspondence describing the image sent to the Oakland Tribune: "Friday, June 8 . . . . . . Mills College President Lynn White, jr., and Mills alumna Jade Snow Wong received silver medal awards from the Commonwealth Club of California today. Their books - Dr. White's 'Educating Our Daughters,' [sic] and Jade Snow Wong's 'Fifth Chinese Daughter' - were selected by the club as two of the seven best works published by California authors during 1950. They are shown receiving medal awards at today's noon luncheon-program in the Gold Ballroom of the Palace Hotel." Image depicts Hooling giving Wong her medal, White standing to the right of Wong.
