This is a black and white photograph of a man in a dark suit walking by a gas station with a sign that reads, "MOBILE SERVICE / TRICKY DICK'S USED CARS." The man is photographed in profile at right in the composition walking on the sidewalk in front of the station and holding a white cane out in front of him. A banner of triangular flags appears along the top of the composition and their shadow runs parallel to the sidewalk below.

Micaëla Gallery printout:"ON INSTRUMENTS / Oakland 1970 / I stopped at this closed gas station to photograph the 'Tricky Dick' sign as a social commentary. While I was looking into my camera, I heard someone coming down the sidewalk. I looked out of the corner of my eye and spotted a blind man coming toward me. I timed the shot just right to put the finishing touches on my social statement. The blind man was flying 'on instruments' and missed the danger.
