center. The letters C and WH are carved in the interior surface of the shuttle.

This is a wooden shuttle that was used for weaving by Kay Sekimachi. A wooden bobbin wound with black linen thread is integrated into the center of the shuttle. The bobbin spins on a metal rod that is hooked to one end of the shuttle and held in place by a piece of curved hardware at the other end. Pushing on this end causes the metal rod to swing outward to release the bobbin. A small hole for holding the bobbin thread appears at top center. The letters C and WH are carved in the interior surface of the shuttle.
