On the left side of the banner is "Fund Human Needs, Not World Death, Livermore Action Group," in the center is "No War," and on the right side is "racism, sexism, classism, ageism, nuclear weapons, energy, union-busting, corporate domination, pollution, draft, econom..., conscription, homophobia, intervention anywhere."

In the early 1980s, Rafael Jesús González was active in the Livermore Action Group (L.A.G.), advocating nuclear disarmament through nonviolent demonstrations. Most of these demonstrations took place at the Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab, and some at other locations such as Vandenberg Air Force Base. Rafael Jesús González's subgroup of the L.A.G. was called "Here for Life."
