The Gray Panthers was founded in New York in 1970 by senior activist Maggie Kuhn; there were soon chapters around the country, with Berkeley's starting in 1973. The intergenerational, multi-issue organization addressed a wide range of issues affecting older people, including the threat of nuclear war. [LMC]
