This poster was originally screenprinted at the San Francisco Art Institute to protest the escalating war in Viet Nam by two art faculty members, and later reproduced in offset. Shane Weare describes the concept: "The poster's title comes from the Greek idea “Know Thyself”, which Socrates used in his dialogues to explore what constituted an ethical life; it was written over the entrance to the temple at Delphi. The idea behind this poster is an expansion of this--i.e. this bombing is killing the innocent--are they the enemy?” [LMC]
