Amorphia was founded in 1969-1970 in Mill Valley, California by Michael Aldrich and Blair Newman to promote the legalization of marijuana. They sold "Acapulco Gold" brand rolling papers to raise money, and eventually their campaign included a news service, a speakers' bureau and legal experts. Amorphia sponsored the first California Marijuana Initiative in 1972, when it merged with NORML (the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws). [LMC]
