When man first began to understand that there was a Great Spirit, perhpas the teachings were not quite clear yet, but our minds were slowly revealing and developing our purpose in the awesome meaning of life. / Our people learned our meaning from the plant life, the four-leggeds, birds, and the water-life. We came to realize that these were our Relations, sacred to us, and we were to live in harmony. This happened a long time ago, and we have found no wrongs with that way of life. That meaning is with us today. It is the oldest way. We are concerned, however, that our Relations are now being hurt by the fires of war, nuclear development and radioactive contamination. These providers of life are the key to mankind''s survival. / This is what worries our people. The earth is a living species unto itself. It does not depend on us. And so we plead with our brothers and sisters of other nations to listen to the language of our Relations before it is too late. Listen. / I am Anishinabe / Dennis Banks / San Francisco, 1982 / Own Sabre 81'' / "To All My Relations"
