The poster has a black border overall. The poster has a stylized drawing of a female figure. The background of the drawing is purple. The figure is wearing a large fur and a large black hat, she has red hair. The female figure's body is rendered as a line drawing, as are the various male figures in the background, while her face is rendered in color. The bottom of the poster has the text: "In 1775 Sir William Blackstone of England stated in his Commentaries On The Laws Of England, / 'By marriage, the husband and wife are one person in law; that is, the very being of legal existence / of the woman is suspended during the marriage, or at least incorporated and consolidated into that / of the husband, under whose wing, protection and cover she performs everything.' This law, coupled / with Puritan morality, set the stage for connubial bliss in the eighteen hundreds (the Victorian era). / Modesty and submissiveness were mandatory virtues in women... and not being too bright was smart.".
