Project One at 1380 Howard Street, S.F. was a technically sophisticated collective artists' studio that hosted a minicomputer - at that point in history a technology only beginning to be available to ordinary citizens - and hip geek wizards there were trying to invent "popular computing," which within a few years would lead to the invention of the personal computer that is ubiquitous now.
