(DAM!) is a two-person public art project founded in 1991 by artist Carrie Moyer and photographer Sue Schaffner. DAM!?s first poster project was an effort to expose the lack of lesbian representation in American popular culture. The campaign of six xeroxed posters, wheatpasted throughout Manhattan (NY), replaced the "underground" celebrities featured in the GAP clothing ads with pictures of lesbian activists. [LMC]
