Below the figure in the street protestors are depicted with signs promoting various social justice causes and protesting the military, the U.S.S. Missouri, and nuclear war. The cartoon appears to be signed by Hugh Mann. The bottom edge of the poster reads: "We Don't". Illustrator "Hugh Mann" is a homonymic pseudonym for the Humanist Party (sponsor). The community fight opposing the homeporting of the U.S.S. Missouri included many Bay Area peace and social justice groups, including the American Friends Service Committee and the Bay Area Peace Navy. In 1987 the Navy decided that S.F. would not be the homeport. [LMC]
