Poster has a thin green border with vines in each corner. Top center has a green and white photograph of men playing brass instruments and a banjo. The poster reads, "Bodega Bay Benefit/ Sunday, July 28, 1963 - 4:00PM to Midnight/ Earthquke McGoon's 630 Clay St., San Francisco/ Turk Murphy's Jazz Band/ Barbara Dane/ Goodtime Washboard Three/ Malvina Reynolds/ The Firing Squad/ Guest Artist Lu Watters/ Donation $5.00 per person - 50 cent children under 12/ Tickets Available at the Door/ All Proceeds will go to The Association To Preseve Bodega Head and Harbor From PG&E's proposed Atomic Power Plant/ *Voting Members of the Assocation $2.50 per person/ For Reservations call YU 6-1433 or GA 1-9405." This modest poster for a folk music musical fundraiser is among the earliest evidence of community resistance to the first proposed nuclear ("atomic," still in 1950s terminology) power plant sited on a known geological fault. The plant was never built. A later poster on this issue can be seen at #2010.54.700 [LMC]
