On the right of the image is "The scarlett Fritillary flaunts brillant red flowers checkered with yellow inside, tinged with purple outside. A non-thirsty California native grown from a bulb, it prefers well-drained dry slopes and occasional summer watering.Planted with native shurbs or pines to provide filtered light, it grows on to three feet tall producing show blossoms set off by graeful lance shaped leaves, March through July. You can preser the native Colors of California in your garden as you conserve water."
