Poster has a pixelated image of an African-American soldier sitting among foilage holding a large machine gun. Printed over the image in red is, "Vietnam means death to the brothers...bring them home...now! SCLC Southern Christian Leadership Conference Ralph David Abernathy president 334 Auburn Ave NE Atlanta Georgia."

This poster was produced early in the Vietnam War, when black soldiers represented about 11% of combatants but suffered around 20% of casualties. After protests by black leaders and groups like the SCLC, President Johnson ordered a reduction of those soldiers in combat units. By war’s end, black soldier fatalities were just over 12%. [LMC]
