Poster has a background of Wendy Yoshimura in a blue shirt. She has yellow skin and black and blue hair. Behind her is green and black pattern. The poster has a white quote in the upper left. It reads, "It has become clear to me that a lot of the frustration I felt throughout my life, which I've always blamed on myself, was due to being a woman in this society. That understanding along with my experiences as a Japanese-American, has shaped my gut level commitment to social change." The bottom right area has "Wendy Yoshimura/ trial begins June 14, 1976 Superior Court, Dept. 4/ 14th & Fallon, Oakland, CA." Wendy Masako Yoshimura (born in the Manzanar Internment Camp January 17, 1943) is a still life watercolor painter better known for her involvement with the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA). She was not involved in the infamous kidnapping of Patty Hearst. She was, however, convicted on explosives and weapons charges stemming from involvement with a previous militant group in 1972 and served a short prison sentence. Her trial drew considerable support from the Japanese-American community. [LMC]
