Framed print, handtinted. From a tag in the back" W. King Ambler, Old Prints and Maps, circa 1876, Registerd No. 2091-34. Residence of Leland Stanford, Located at the Southeast corner of Powell and California Street, San Francisco. Old wood engraving taken from "The Centenial Spirit of the Times," published in San Francisco in 1876." A second tag seems to be a newspaper clipping describing the new residence as one of the most luxurious in the country, with over fifity rooms. The image shows a single three story mansion which sits in a hill, surrounded by a gated garden.. A black carriage with two horses is coimng out of the gate, while a couple strolls in the sidewalk. A man on a horse is coming up the hill. The print is framed in a gold frame and has original tags on the back. It is signed "Smith C. L. Del on the lower left corner and "Holmes" on the bottom right corner.
