Greenhorn Mountains
Four (4) butterflies in a Riker Mount which is a thin, glass-topped, cotton-filled exhibition case. The top and bottom butterflies are orange with small brown spots. the two middle butterflies are folded and are orange with brown spots on upper wing. Light brown with white spots on hind wing. These range in size from 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 to 1 3/8 x 2 1/4. They are male. Verso: A dark pink stamp that has a box with the following information inside: "Collection of Clay Ward Inglewood-California NAME [line] on DATE [line] LOCATION [line]" In black handwritten ink on the NAME line: "Argynnis viridicornis" In black handwritten ink on the DATE line: "July 8, 1932" In black handwritten ink on the LOCATION line:"Greenhorn Mountains" In handwritten black ink "Variation of argynnis zerene"Male symbols are stamped below in pink that correspond to the butterflies on recto.
