Cedar Pines Park
Three (3) butterflies in a Riker Mount which is a thin, glass-topped, cotton-filled exhibition case. They range in size 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 to 2 x 2 5/8. Upper side is brownish black with an orange patch at the forewing apex. White median band across both wings is broken on the forewing. The bottom butterfly is folded. The top butterfly is male and the bottom two are female. Verso: A dark pink stamp that has a box with the following information inside: "Collection of Clay Ward Inglewood-California NAME [line] on DATE [line] LOCATION [line]" In black handwritten ink on the NAME line: "Heterochroa californica" In black handwritten ink on the DATE line: "Aug. 29, 1929" In black handwritten ink on the LOCATION line:"Cedar Pines Park San Bernadino Co." In handwritten black ink "The California Sister". Male and female symbols are stamped below in pink that correspond to the butterflies on recto.
