Four (4) butterflies in a Riker Mount which is a thin, glass-topped, cotton-filled exhibition case.   The two butterflies located on the top and bottom of the frame hare orange with brown spots.  The ones located in the middle are orange and yellow with brown spots on the top wing and tan with white spots on the bottom wing. They range in size from 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 to 1 1/2  x 1 3/8.  The butterfly on the far left side is folded as is the one on the far right bottom corner.   VERSO:A dark pink stamp that has a box with the following information inside: "Collection of Clay Ward (obstructed by a hook used to hang the mount) Inglewood-California NAME [line] on DATE [line] LOCATION [line]" In black handwritten ink on the NAME line: "Argynnis malcombi" In black handwritten ink on the DATE line: "see below" In black handwritten ink on the LOCATION line:"Mammoth Camp Mono County , Calif" Male and Female symbols are stamped below in pink that correspond to the butterflies on recto.
