Bishop Creek
Four (4) butterfly in a Riker Mount which is a thin, glass-topped, cotton-filled exhibition case. Upper side is gray with cream-colored patches across both wings; forewing has 2 black spots. Underside is similar but lighter. They range in size from 1 1/8 x 1 to 1 x 1 9/16. all the butterflies are male. Verso: A dark pink stamp that has a box with the following information inside: "Collection of Clay Ward (obstructed by a hook used to hang the mount) Inglewood-California NAME [line] on DATE [line] LOCATION [line]" In black handwritten ink on the NAME line: Neominios ridingsii" In black handwritten ink on the DATE line: "July 8, 1935" In black handwritten ink on the LOCATION line:"Table Mts. Bishop Creek Inyo Co., Calif" Below in hand written black ink is "Riding's Satyr" Male symbols are stamped below in pink that correspond to the butterflies on recto.
