Five (5) butterfly in a Riker Mount which is a thin, glass-topped, cotton-filled exhibition case.  Front wing rounded at tip. Upper side is black with red and pale yellow or white bands. Submarginal band of small yellow or white spots; wide postmedian band is red. Underside of hindwing with alternating bands of yellow-orange and cream. They are arranged in three rows.  The two in the middle are folded. The following description is from left to right and then top to bottom: The first and third are female.  The second, fourth, and fifth are male. Verso: A dark pink stamp that has a box with the following information inside: "Collection of Clay Ward Inglewood-California NAME [line] on DATE [line] LOCATION [line]" In black handwritten ink on the NAME line: "Euphydryas baroni" In black handwritten ink on the DATE line: "March 15, 1934" In black handwritten ink on the LOCATION line:"Oakland, Calif." Below in hand written black ink is "Baron's Checkerspot". Male and female symbols are stamped below in pink that correspond to the butterflies on recto.
