Ephraim Canyon
Five (5) butterflies in a Riker Mount which is a thin, glass-topped, cotton-filled exhibition case. There is one at the top and then two rows of two. The first set of two have their wings folded. Fore wing narrow. Upper side is black to dark orange-brown with yellow, red, and white spots Underside with yellow and orange-red bands. They range in size from 1 x 1 to 1 1/4 x 1 3/4. The first and fourth are female and the second, third, and fifth are male. VERSO: A dark pink stamp that has a box with the following information inside: "Collection of Clay Ward (obstructed by a hook used to hang the mount) Inglewood-California NAME [line] on DATE [line] LOCATION [line]" In black handwritten ink on the NAME line: "Euphydras Carmentis" In black handwritten ink on the DATE line: "June 28, 1934 "In black handwritten ink on the LOCATION line: Ephraim Canyon Sanpete Co. Utah". Male and Female symbols are stamped below in pink that correspond to the butterflies on recto.
