Four (4) butterflies in a Riker Mount which is a thin, glass-topped, cotton-filled exhibition case. Wings are brown. Upper side of forewing has 2 large yellow-ringed eyespots. Lower side of hindwing has a variable number of small eyespots.  They have a yellow or yellow-orange patch on the outer part of the forewing. They range in size from 1 1/4 x 1 5/16 to 1 9/16 x 1 7/8. The following description is from top to bottom and then left to right: The first and third are male and the others are female.  The second and third are folded. Verso from top to bottom and left to right: "Cercyonis alope [male symbol] 6-15-3 Trenton, NJ [male symbol] [female symbol] Haledon NJ The Common Wood Nymph [female symbol]"
