Mendelsohn; August, 2002Idora Park was renowned not only for its (amusement) rides and sideshows but also for nightly opera performances and dramas in the park's Wigwam Theatre. Covering seventeen and a half acres from 55th to 58th streets, and from Telegraph to Shattuck Avenues, the park was razed in 1929 to make way for a housing tract.
